The Yarn-in-a-Bag challenge for 2013:  All participants contributed odds and ends of unwanted yarn, which were divided up into bags and redistributed.  The challenge was to create “something”–woven, felted, knitted, crocheted, braided, or knotted–from the yarns, which were mixed wool, acrylic, cotton, slubby, boucle, variegated, mohair, fuzzy “fun” yarns, metallics, and handspun yarns in odd colors, lengths, and sizes.  The results ranged from a complete knitted barnyard (by Marianne) to several tapestries (with inspiration photo of Old Harry Rocks in Dorset, GB, for Erica’s [although the  photo below is courtesy of Wikipedia, Erica had one she had taken on a visit]), hats, a jacket, scarf, a Krokbragd piece,  and several embellished baskets and bags of varying sizes.  Some “failures” were also displayed, showing the creative process at work dealing with difficult materials.  A fun time was had by all…  Our program chair and instigator of the mayhem, Bill, filled in for participants who couldn’t attend.
